It will WALKU all the way! Or will it?
Among a crowd of Fitness Apps WALKU is the new kid on the block. But does it live up to the hype?
FITrebel.in reviews the App.
Let’s face it. Covid hasn’t been kind to us! But of all the uneasiness thrown our way, it certainly has instilled a strong inclination in us towards preserving our health. They say, ‘never waste a crisis’. If we adopt half of what we have learned, we will be better off. Surely.
Being an avid fitness enthusiast myself and also a humble owner of health, nutrition, and fitness blog, FITrebel.in, I am happy to see the parks and playgrounds running full capacity. That’s exactly what we needed, and also a means to track what we are doing. During my interactions with like-minded individuals in cyberspace, I happened to stumble upon WALKU.
Well, what is WALKU? No, nothing to do with Star-Wars. It’s a walking app. Yes! so, what’s new? WALKU is tailormade by health care professionals, the top-level types, the ones that save our lives. I believe that could make all the difference. The vision is to promote health and fitness in India as well as abroad. Inspired by WHO’s global program “Let’s Be Active” 2018-2030, WALKU! targets to increase your level of physical activity by 25%.
That sounds promising. But how does it hold out in real life? Let’s do the honours then!
Downloaded. Set, Go!
Within a couple of minutes, you start receiving challenges. The other app users take the initiative to challenge you to a better workout. That’s some inspiration coming your way, day after day, not letting you slack. In the words of the developer “The App is based on competitive walking between users. You can Challenge a friend to walk between any two cities on the globe. The thrill is in maintaining your fitness levels at prime, all the time. The distance that you walk will be plotted on actual intercity maps, will urge you to reach your destination faster than your opponent.”
My experience with WALKU is that it is a simple yet informative app all set to ignite your passion for every day exercising in a most uncomplicated way. It stores your daily activities, for future references and comparisons with self and other users. Every day you get new challenges thrown your way, making it easier for you to commit to your physical wellness.

It’s like having a friend urging you on to perform better, day in and day out, albeit without a holier than thou attitude.
The icing on the cake is that WALKU has integrated Apple health, S Health, Google Fit, Strava, Fitbit, and Google maps to enable you to track your distance walked accurately. And these are the best fitness trackers in the world.
Also, Up to six family members are able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled. Time to take on your sister in law!
The only possible con I could point out was that every time I turned on the app, a bunch of challenges would hover on the screen wanting to be accepted. Nothing that would make me change my mind about the app, but a tad irritating nevertheless!
